Since moving toVictoria last September I'd been struggling to find a place that could do my hair how I like. I heard about El Patron from a friend so I decided I was going to try them out. I'm glad I did. The atmosphere is relaxed. World Cup on the screen, music while getting your hair cut, and the guys are all super nice. They know their customers and are meticulous even though they are really busy. I can say that I will continue to frequent El Patron and as a bonus it's also a business run by fellow latinos.

The atmosphere of the place is good, most of the staff is good. My only complaint is how long the barber leaves me waiting even when I made an appointment. I understand when you are with a customer or if you have been there for hours and need to get lunch/coffee. But waiting anywhere from 25 minutes to 45 so your barber can go smoke is ridiculous, especially when he just got to the shop. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I requested a haircut how I presented through 5+ photos at every angle and completely got the opposite. Cut my hair shorter than what I asked. Good for specific haircuts but not all.

At El Patrón they are truly passionate about their craft. All the barbers appeared to be actually happy at work and loving what they do. I only had to wait about 15 minutes because I didn't have an appointment. It was a super clean place and everyone was having fun. I left with a great haircut and a smile.

Very friendly and pretty thorough with the fade etc. However I gave clear instructions re the beard trim and I pretty much got it chopped off... My “take it down on the side but just neaten up the body and not too much off as I am growing it out” became taken down at the side, completely trimmed off on the body and shaved up my neck line by an inch (way to high of a neckline now)... Just saying listen to what your customer is asking for and if you disagree have a chat about it...don’t just do what you want.

Got the short guy with the Canucks hat. I'm gonna have to go get fixed what this guy did to my hair. Just horrible. I'm speechless. Even my mate was like, Dude that's a whack haircut. No bueno, comprende? This was my second time visiting El Patron. The first time I had Raul and it was great. The second time I made an appointment (unfortunately Raul wasn't available), arrived early and waited at the door (COVID protocol) for about 20 minutes while one barber kept cutting someone's hair and the owner just looked at and ignored me from the back of the shop. When I finally got acknowledged and invited to enter, my barber was the dude with the backwards Canucks hat.

First off this review is about the overall business not the quality of workmanship. el patron was recommended to me by a stylist who was cutting my hair but moved away. She was amazing so based on her recommendation I'm sure all of these guys are great at cutting hair. However getting in to see someone is a joke. I called three times one day with no answer. Their answering machine gives no information on the business (hours, address, ect) i look them up on Facebook and once again nothing about their hours or appointment schedule.. Just a picture that says something like "we're open early until we decide" the hours listed on Google are 8am-8pm...so It seems like these guys open early I go downtown at 8...not open .. That's fine but they don't even have operating hours on their window like every business ever! I say o well maybe they open at nine.. Come back at nine... Nope.. Well I guess they open at ten... I've already waited an hour so what's one more... Come back at 10... Guys says it's by appointment only... Which is weird because I have been getting my haircut at barber shops for 35 years and can't recall one that wasn't first come first serve. A hair salon is one thing but a by appointment barber shop is new to me.. I book an appointment for 1130..come back at 1130 and told that the guy I'm booked with didn't show up.. Now I've wasted over three hours of my time... Driven downtown twice . Spent 8$ on parking . All for problems that could have been solved if at any point they had presented the information that they are by appointment only. Highly not recommended for new customers.

Probably the best haircut I've ever had. I walked into el patron randomly hoping to get a haircut. Steven offered to help me out without hesitation even though he had an appointment arriving shortly. I was very impressed with his precision and care he put into my haircut. He exceeded my expectations and gave me the exact high fade faux hawk look that I asked for. He then did a hot towel at the end there to help clean up my face, and then used a straight razor on the edges of my hair. He is most definitely a perfectionist, and I could tell that all the other barbers in there took pride in their work. I was so happy with the result that I booked an appointment the next day with him to shave my face.
