This is my favorite pub in Red Deer. It has surprised me in the past with the quality of bands they get to play there. I really like Amanda, the friendly bartender who was there yesterday. She has a bright smile and a quick wit. Got to enjoy a beer and a game of pool without hecklers or being bothered by a bunch of over served rowdy teens like I have encountered in other Red Deer establishments. Thank you to The Vat.

My most favorite bar in Alberta... and I've seen probably WAY too many! Hahaha One of the only places for legitimate live entertainment from west coast entertainers, in our fine city. DoNOT pass through RD without stopping for a brew. Tell Terry the lady who donated the '68 bass for house players sent you!!! It should be hung on the ceiling by now. Pool tables (2) amazing things to look at in the walls... and the building itself - if it could speak.. wow. There would be plenty of super fun stories!!????

This place is hip! Great live music and the jam on Sundays is iconic to the Red Deer music scene. Where local bands and future stars cut their teeth. Great place to enjoy a local Craft Beer in a old building that used to be a brewey itself many years ago! The murals of rockstars painted inside on the walls is worth the visit alone. Cool atmosphere.

The Vat is a rough gem built in a former brewery. The decore is ecletic with muralls of famous musicians on the walls. It's a pretty standard pub with a small beer selection and an old pub style menu. But The Vat has two great things going for it. 1. It's the kind of place where everyone is welcome. 2. It's all about the music. From up and coming bands to the Sunday night jam's. The Vat is where music is happening.

First time visiting this bar ..the ambiance is ok .. it has 3 pool table which is great.. Love the painting on the walls ..the only thing it's smells like grease it need a big cleaning and maybe a little more light by the bar to see how much you are actually paying them ..i had to put my light on my phone everytime I want to pay .. this place can be a really good rock bar and the best place in red deer if they would clean up and lower they cover charge as I wish my cover charge was refunded last night.. unfortunately last night shuffalo band played and I was not very impress ..I was charge 10$ cover charge and all heard from 8 to 10:15 was their check sound ..they only play for exactly 1 hour.for that amount of time playing their music the cover charge should of been lower like $5 because I do understand you have to pay them ..but if you would lower your cover charge you might get more people which you be selling more beer .. my overall experience is a 3 star ..will I return ?? Yes if they would lower cost in the coverage charge and provide us with greater bands ..

Terrible. Everytime I've gone there the bartenders tip themselves or give improper change back. One minute you go up and a beer can be $6 and then the next beer some how it's $8 for the same god damn beer. My buddy just the other night wound up paying $21 for 2 tall cans of beer. Because bartender doesn't know how to give out proper change. His first beer he had paid with a 20, they charged him $8 for said beer and gave him what he thought was a 10 and a toonie turns out the "10" was a 5. If it wasn't for my friends playing there I'd never go there.
